General Discussion
Have you ever had enough knowledge and experience in what you are doing to know that there is another side, another better form? For example, if we change to do that, some results will be better than they are, but we choose not to do it.
Another time, I was writing an article and suddenly thought of something else. The topic I was going to write about was a current event. If the article is trending, people will be more interested in and read it. This is easily observed in the news reporting methods of most media.
But I stopped to think and didn’t want it to be too relevant to the present.
“Don’t you want people to be interested? Don’t you want a lot of people to read?”
The answer is probably “no.” After writing, you want people to read it. “Then why don’t you do it when it might be better?”
That’s right. So, it became a thought or a story that makes us think and reflect on ourselves.
Since it is better, why don’t you do it?
There must be many reasons, depending on each person. Some people think that they are aware of it, some don’t. Other people, or even us, may feel “stubborn” or “obstinate.” When we try to reflect on ourselves, there should be only a few reasons.
Good in whose eyes?
Which is better? Many things are irrational or have no objective standard to measure. For example, is it better to get a degree nowadays than not to study? Or is it better to work while studying or not? Even though the goal is the same: to be successful in life, it is difficult to say which is truly better.
Therefore, when there are sentences like, “It should be like that,” or “Why not choose this?” which may be better, as they say, we don’t do it because it is only suitable in their eyes, their thoughts…
If you ask why we choose this when the results may be ambiguous or difficult to summarize, most of us choose what “is beneficial in front of us” or “most comfortable” to do it. But there are some things to be careful of…
Emotional knots, subconsciousness
From the previous point, it is only one aspect because we may have good enough thoughts for some things we don’t choose to do. But is it a real reason? Or just a feeling? Sometimes, we are aware of it; sometimes, we are not.
For example, if we are lazy or have no motivation, why struggle? Or why do we have to compete with others? Sometimes, it is true; sometimes, we are fooling ourselves. Many people have a knot of lack of confidence. Some are so disappointed that they are used to it. Some people are so afraid of failure that they stay in the safe zone and don’t dare to do anything, even things that might be better…
It’s not true that we don’t want to compete.
If we ask ourselves seriously, is there any way we don’t want to be in a better position, succeed, and be proud of our progress? It’s not true that we don’t want to compete or don’t want to go there. Try being on a stage where we have an advantage, think it’s appropriate, or have won before. We definitely won’t let that opportunity go quickly…
However, this is just another side of the story: even though there are better things, I don’t do them because I have a complex. I’m a loser, but I don’t accept myself… This isn’t true for everyone because there’s another side…
Deep down, there’s a goal in mind.
If we carefully review ourselves, the fact that we know what’s better but don’t do it might be because we have other different goals, maybe personal goals, goals that most people don’t think the same as us. That’s not wrong. But I repeat, “I’ve carefully reviewed it.” In this case, it’s not necessary for anyone to understand anything with us that it’s better. So why don’t we do it…
My observation or difference is that if we were at this point, we wouldn’t be anxious about anyone being better than us in what we’re doing (and wouldn’t be secretly jealous). Moreover, we’re happy with what we’re doing. It’s appropriate to think like this. Even though it would be better, I don’t do it because we have other goals in mind deep down.
Back to what I said, why do I avoid trending articles when they make people more interested in reading them?
I will answer without shame that I actually want people to read a lot. However, if they only read because they are interested in a trend, they may not get any insights or ideas, or they may only use them temporarily.
Articles that do not have to be trendy, even though people may not be interested today, can continue to be read and remain more or less valid for a longer period.
These instances serve as reminders of the importance of self-reflection. We need to constantly question our motives and choices. Even when there might be better perspectives, we should always choose based on our own perspective. After all, a good life is one that accommodates many perspectives. Let’s not deceive ourselves.
P.S. I also write articles that follow current events, not that there are none. This reflection is a personal journey, and I hope it resonates with you in your own unique way.
